Mobile Website and Mobile App

iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android, PDA, smart phones, the list goes on. More than 70% of the U.S. population has some kind of mobile device. With this growing trend come the questions should you have a Mobile Website or a Mobile Application. To help you make an informed decision here is some helpful information on each.

Mobile Website
  1. It is available to anyone, because you don’t have to download an app specific to your phone (like from iTunes, etc.)
  2. Mobile Sites are automatically updated and do not require the user to download the latest updates when a new version comes out
  3. It is a scaled down version of your website, so when someone access it via a mobile phone, ipad, etc. this site will automatically come up.
  4. It still contains valuable information such as a clickable phone number for quick and easy contact but in a format that is easier to read on a smaller display.
Mobile Application
  1. Mobile Apps have to be built for each platform (iPhone, Blackberry, etc.)
  2. It is an application that a user downloads before using and update anytime it changes
  3. Mobile Apps have specialized functionality built only for the mobile app
  4. Offers user a more interactive experience to obtain information
  5. Mobile Apps allows users to quickly access information via an icon on their home screen versus navigating to a page
